TRIFARI 1952" TWINKLE" PARURE
It was part of an ad campaign that read, "The Most Enchanted Gift Of All/Jewels by Trifari." These pieces have little 5-pointed stars with cool "diamond-shaped" rhinestones, as well as round stones and the inlaid baguettes, baguette stones that are actually set flush in the metal setting as opposed to on top or under prongs.
The necklace has 2 stars in the centerpiece, which also has clear round stones and the baguettes. The centerpiece has lovely curvelinear loops and flourishes. This leads into a segmented chain that terminates in a foldover clasp. The necklace is 14" long. It is marked "Trifari Pat Pend" on the clasp.
The clip earrings have one star and clear rounds and the inlaid baguettes and are almost 3/4" high and 1 1/8" wide. They are marked "Trifari Design Pat Pend" with the crown over the "T." All pieces are in excellent condition.
The bracelet is semi-rigid, with 3 sections, two of which are hinged. The center section has two stars and several round stones and baguettes throughout. The sections are convex and curve away from the wrist.
Trifari was one of the largest and best manufacturers of costume jewelry in the U.S. in the golden age of the 1930s-1960s. Alfred Philippe was the chief designer who brought his background in fine jewelry to Trifari in the 1930s, creating a sophisticated, high-end look for the company that was its signature for decades. Many of its design are avidly collected today. To quote Julia C. Carroll ( Collecting Costume Jewelry 202 ) about Trifari in general: " The jewelry is well made, beautiful, and because of its long history, the prices of many vintage Trifari designs are affordable.
