This book shelf is a little older, judging by the construction and weight, at least the 70-80s. It has a workable light but I couldn't move it to turn it on. Nice nightlight for a childs room. No child could move this shelf so it would be pretty safe to use for their room or playroom. (or anywhere). No obvious scars or scratches.
