Marshall Class 5 Combo (Professionally Modified) BEST AMP YOU WILL EVER PLAY AT THIS STEAL OF A PRICE
Vintage Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker tone (KT66 output), but at half the volume. Or vintage Marshall Plexi tone (EL34 output). You can get a real Marshall tube amp ’cooking’ at more reasonable volume levels than you can with those bigger models. 2 x 1 preamp tubes & 1 x power tube instead of 3-4 preamp tubes & 2 x power tubes, big difference...
The stock version of this combo (2 x 12AX7, 1 x EL84, 15watt speaker) had very little headroom and no real clean setting to speak of (started to breakup after 2 on the volume). Now it is MUCH louder at 15-18ish Watts with more headroom and beautiful cleans (Marshall clean!) with a 10” Celestion Alnico Gold.
This professionally modified (Gamache Electronics-Moncton,NB,Canada -look up on Facebook) Marshall Class 5 has upgraded Hammond output and power transformers (and other components) to bring it from 5 to 15-18watts. It now has the negative feedback linked to knob on the back of the amp to simulate a stiffer solid state rectifier or a tube rectifier sag. Added power tube socket allows the original EL84, or KT66, KT77, EL34 or 6CA7 in the added 8 pin socket. No re-biasing required. Switch added to allow use with many different extension cabs (4, 8, 16 ohm), depending on the output tube being used.
Includes a headphone jack attenuator (to allow better tone for your headphones for nighttime/apartment playing).
Also includes KT66 output tube, EL34 output tube, 6CA7 output tube, EL84 output tube.
I can email short audio samples of the amp with both the KT66 & EL34 output tubes being played with a Les Paul with Burstbucker 1 (neck) & Burstbucker 2 (bridge). No effects, just the guitar straight into the amp. Or bring your own guitar to try out...I don’t mind.
No trades or partial trades - need $$$ for next amp
