Antique Japanese Arita Hizen Porcelain Rice Bowl With Cover
Beautiful antique porcelain rice bowl and cover in colors of navy blue, light blue, burnt red, green and white, with gold accents. The footed bowl is 3” tall and 6” diameter. The outside is decorated in six alternating sections. The inside is white with a patterned band of alternating light blue and burnt red. The lid is 1 1/2” tall and 5 1/4” diameter. The outside is decorated, as the base, in six alternating sections. The inside matches the inside of the base - white with a patterned band of alternating light blue and burnt red.
The lid is marked with the red mark for Hizen. According to my research, this mark is from the Meiji Period (1868-1912), suggesting that this piece is more than 100 years old.
The piece (with lid) is 4 1/8” tall overall. It is in excellent overall vintage condition for its age with no chips or cracks. Please see pictures for condition.
A fantastic find!
