Plentiful Produce is a local food co-op dedicated to helping reduce grocery bills when it comes to fresh produce. (We all know how expensive good, fresh produce is). Baskets are $23.11 (including tax and processing), and they have 5 different fruits and 5 different vegetables. They also offer a la carte items and local seasonal items (such as peaches, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries) when available. There is no contract. You order only for the weeks that you want a basket. Baskets are ordered by 10am Wednesday for pick up on Saturday. A preview of what will be in the baskets is posted on the Plentiful Produce Facebook page the Friday before pick up. There are four pick up locations: one in Madison on Hwy 72, one on University in Huntsville, one on South Parkway in Huntsville, and one on Sutton Road in Hampton Cove.

I have personally bought a basket and volunteered for three years. We love it. Volunteering (not required, but we love volunteers!) is so much fun! I also love that each basket is a surprise. My family has been able to try new things (like mangos and jicama), and still enjoy the things we normally eat, too (potatoes and bananas). To be honest, my kids would not eat anywhere near as many fresh fruits and vegetables as they do if it were not for our Plentiful Produce baskets. The produce sticker prices in stores (and the picked over produce) give me shell shock.
