Welcome to Mission 12 of the "Dare to Declutter" Community Challenge. All year long we have been working together to declutter our lives. Come join the fun! It's never to late to start!

MISSION 12: LAUNDRY ROOM
FUNCTIONS Consider your laundry process. Make sure you have a place to complete each part of the process. Maybe not in the laundry room, but a designated place in the home.
• Storage for laundry supplies & baskets
• Pretreating/Stain Removal area
• Drying area for clothes that cannot go in dryer
• Ironing station
• Folding Station

PRIME ITEMS TO PURGE Empty bottles of laundry/cleaning solution, products that you tried and didn’t like, anything NOT serving one of the designated functions of the room, and CLEAN clothes. (Too easily confused with the dirty clothes.)

KEEP THE ROTATION GOING Set (multiple) reminders on your phone to help you remember to switch the clothes from the washer to the dryer. This helps prevent funky smells and reduces the amount of ironing (or electricity used to do another cycle thru the dryer.)

CONTAINERIZE Containers corral small items (e.g. stain sticks, lint rollers, laundry markers) that might otherwise migrate to other parts of the house.

Containers also hide detergent bottles and powders, reducing appearance of clutter in the room.

LOST & FOUND Designate a basket for items found in pockets or “eaten” in the laundering process (like that other sock.) Family members are responsible for checking the Lost & Found once a week. You can have one for the entire family or one small basket for each member of the family. Do what works best for your family.

MAKE IT PRETTY, DAWLIN’! Make it a fun place for you to spend your time. It doesn’t HAVE to be a dreadful task. If you like music, make sure you have a player of some sort in the room. Add a fun lamp to the space as lighting is crucial in the stain removal process. Add a stylish rug where you do most of your standing. Get creative with the containers used for the Lost & Found and detergents.
