Antique Mid-19th Century Vitrine cabinet in Louis XV/French Rococo style painted in Vernis Martin lacquers.
This fine cabinet has bowed glass on the two sides and in the center door, the glass is mounted within ormolu moldings.
There are ormolu mounts on the lower legs and feet, and other mounts in the corners. An ormolu shell is mounted at the top center.
The cabinet is fitted with two glass shelves and the bottom is lined with a velvet fabric.
There are hand painted inset panels on all three sides of the curio.
Lovely decorated elements of classical style and fine artistry with wonderful elaborate scroll work and delicate painted floral and foliage. A true work of art that would be a lovely accent to any home with it's majestic grandeur.
Overall condition is very good with minor gold loss which is not unusual for such age. The ormolu mounts have lost a considerable amount of their original gilding. There is a small crack in the glass on the lower back side panel; the piece was purchased like this. With today's technology this could be a simple repair. Detailed cleaning would bring this treasure back to life.
Dimensions: 40" wide at rear 18 1/2" deep at center 72" tall at center front.
This cabinet was from my parent's collection. Moving must sell.
