This loft bed was one of the best purchases I made for my daughter and I hate to part with it, but my daughter has been begging me for a year for a canopy bed. This is a very sturdy loft bed with SO MUCH storage. It is in excellent condition with only a few small scratches and/or a few minor blemishes. The frame for the actual bed is all metal and when I say this thing is heavy, I mean HEAVY. It will take a few people to break into chunks to get it out the doors and carry it. Everything is connected together, including the little ladder. As far as the storage, it has the 2 open shelves on the bottom right corner, a large cabinet on the right side in the back, 3 good size drawers in front, and a built-in shelf just above the bed that is the entire length of the bed. Then there is all the space underneath the bed that can be used for many things. She had a rope light strung underneath with blankets and pillows for a nice reading nook, it was just a cozy little hideaway, and then it became an excellent storage place.
It is made with MDF composite wood with melamine covering.

The shelf that runs alongside the bed is a little over 5" deep and it is split into 3 sections.
