Plant now: Clematite Recta SEEDS

Seeds are from my own garden. This unusual selection of Clematis is not a climbing plant at all. It becomes a divinely odorous bush. It quickly bursts out of the ground in the spring, with foliage of an unusual smoky-purple shade, fading to green by mid summer. Plant produces a good display of fragrant little white star-shaped flowers in early summer. For those who cannot pick up, please send me a self addressed stamped envelope with the price of seeds.

Sowing advice from Internet . It says that for best results, Plant ripe seed in the fall in sterile seed starting mix, covering seeds with a thin layer of sand. Place the container into a zip lock polyethylene bag and place it outside in a shady spot (or a refrigerator) for several months during the winter so that they go through several freeze/thaw cycles.

Then place the covered container in a warm location out of direct sunlight and wait for your first seedling. As the seeds germinate, the small plants should be pricked out of the germinating container and planted into a small pot. Be very careful as the root will be a single long root in the beginning. As it grows larger it will need a larger pot, fertilizer and constant moisture. When the plant has three sets of leaves, pinch out the growing tip to promote branching.
These seeds can be very slow indeed to germinate, and as a rule they wait for spring before emerging whenever they are sown. Please be very patient, and do not discard the seed pan, no matter how long it takes for germination to occur.
